The meter prices are our estimates from the 2026 tariff. By day they include €1.50 per bag, and the night price is before bags. The Aerobus fare is the 2024 fare, the latest we could confirm, so it may have gone up.

Which one fits you
For one or two people with light bags, landing in time for a bus between 08:30 and 22:00 and staying near the Aerobus stops, take the airport bus. At €6.40 each it costs less than any car, and it stops close to the big Funchal hotels.
Our car suits three or more of you, a landing at night or at a weekend, children, heavy bags, or a hotel uphill from the stops. The bus fare is per person and our price is for the whole car, so the gap closes as the group grows. The taxi night rate also covers all of Saturday and Sunday, and our price has no weekend extra. Child seats are free on request.
By day, Bolt's own estimate is lower than our price for the car. You see the app's price when you order, after landing. If you land without a booking, take a taxi from the rank: to Funchal the meter costs a little more than our price by day, and more at night and at weekends.

How much is a taxi from Madeira airport to Funchal?
A metered taxi from Madeira airport to Funchal centre costs about €32 by day and €39 at night or at weekends, plus €1.50 a suitcase, on the 2026 tariff. With a tour booked, our price is €30 for the car for 1 to 4 people, and the price list compares the meter with our prices for the rest of the island.
How long does it take from the airport to Funchal?
The drive from Madeira airport to Funchal takes about 20–25 minutes on the VR1 expressway, depending on where you're staying. By the timetable, the Aerobus takes 24 min to Avenida do Mar and 50 min to Praia Formosa, its last stop.
Is there a bus from Madeira airport to Funchal, and can you pay on board?
Yes, the Aerobus (line 500) runs from Madeira airport to the Funchal hotel zone, leaving the airport between 08:30 and 22:00. You pay on board, cash only, and the last fare we could confirm, from 2024, is €6.40 per person. It does not run on 25 December.
Does Uber work at Madeira airport?
Yes, Bolt and Uber both operate in Madeira, and Bolt's app shows pickup points at the airport. You order the ride in the app after you land. Bolt's own estimate from the airport to Marina do Funchal is about €20.80, and the price changes with demand. Bolt and Uber drivers in Madeira work under the TVDE rules, which don't allow sightseeing tours.
How much is the ride to Funchal at night?
Added to a tour, our car from the airport to Funchal costs 15% more for a pickup between 21:00 and 07:00, with no weekend extra. The price table shows the night price for each area. By the meter, the same ride costs about €39 at night, before bags. The taxi night rate runs 21:00–06:00, and all of Saturday, Sunday and public holidays.
What if my flight is delayed?
We follow your flight, so after a delay or a diversion the pickup moves to your real arrival time at no cost. We wait 60 minutes free from your actual landing, up to 90 minutes if your bags are lost, and after that it's €5 per started 15 minutes.
